Cadets were employed on various duties throughout the day, including programme selling, collecting donations for the RAF Benevolent Fund and the ever important FOD PLOD. They were also given down time to explore the static exhibits and watch the numerous flying displays. The highlight for many was the mock interception mission flown by Austrian Air Force Typhoons against a Hercules transport aircraft.
Unfortunately this was to be the last ever Air Show at RAF Leuchars as the base will soon be transitioning to become an Army Garrison, with all aircraft and personnel transferring to RAF Lossiemouth in Moray over the next twelve months.
After many years of assisting at the event, 859 Squadron will be sad to see it consigned to the history books. However we remain both proud and honoured to have been able to play a part in the air show during it's sixty five year history.
