A fair few classification badges and certificates presented this week, well done to everyone passing the First Class and Leading Cadet syllabus.
Well done to the all of the cadets who represented 859 at the Inter Squadron Cross Country in Sunday. Special mention for Cdt Euan Gray and Cdt Finlay Bryden who came 2nd and 3rd in their age group!
Today our cadets were hard at work helping Dalgety Bay Bowling Club with their post season tidy up of the club grounds. This forms part of their volunteering commitment under the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. We are always happy to assist another local group, especially when they give us cake!
This week Corporal Calum Horne travelled to the Central Gliding School at RAF Syerston to undertake the Bronze Aviation Training Package with consolidation flights in the Grob Vigilant T1 Motor-glider. Well done on the award of your Bronze ‘G’ Wings Calum!

This evening Cdt Jack Peoples was presented with his Leading Cadet badge following successful completion of examinations in Airmanship Knowledge, Basic Navigation and Principles of Flight. Well done Jack!
Congratulations to Sgt Callum Buchan who was recently presented with his Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award by the Sqn DofE Officer. This is an exceptional personal achievement and will see Callum visit Holyrood Palace next year to receive his award certificate from a member of the royal family.
This evening Cdt Matthew Collings was presented with the squadron's very first Pre-DofE badge. This new award recognises efforts in volunteering, physical exercise, expedition training and learning new skills for those too young to enrol in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. He was also presented with his HeartStart Emergency Life Support certificate. Well done Matthew!
On Sunday CWO Greenall and Cpl McTavish attended the first training session of the Wing Road Marching Team. This is the first step on the road to qualifying for the Nijmegen 4 day Marches in Holland next year.
A fair few awards presented on final parade last night with HeartStart Certificates for our newer cadets, Blue Wings ATP Certificate for Cdt Blyth, Wing Sports Blue for Cpl Hayes and an amazing Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award to Sgt Buchan.
This evening the Flight Sergeant Ethan Hunking was presented with his Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award badge. This is a significant achievement which will see Ethan travel to Holyrood Palace next year to receive his award certificate from a member of the Royal Family.
This evening two brothers received awards for completion on final parade. Cdt Kieran Gordon received his Air Rifle Trained Shot badge and Cdt Ethan Gordon received his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award badge. Well done to you both!
