This weekend Fg Off Brown was one of four officers from SESW who completed the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association Safety Officer course at Craigiehall Camp. These staff members are now qualified to run clay target experience shoots for cadets and staff. Stay tuned for some exciting opportunities in the near future.
In July our cadets spent a week in Northern Ireland at Joint Helicopter Flying Station Aldergrove. One of the off site vists was to the Ulster Aviation Society where we found an old friend - the former Phantom Gate Guardian from RAF Leuchars.
To mark the 75th Anniversary of the Air Training Corps' formation a ceremonial torch has been making it's away around the United Kingdom. Cadets from 859 Squadron were chosen to escort the torch for part of it's journey through Fife. The torch has visited
On Tuesday 12 July Cadets Campbell, Forrester, Gordon and McTavish travelled to Leuchars Station to undertake Air Experience Flying with No 12 Air Experience Flight.
Between 05-12 July Sergeant Jamie Graham attended the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford. RIAT is one of the largest airshows in Europe and cadets from across the UK attend for a full weeks camp to assist with setting up the show's infrastructure and to provide valuable support on the display days. Sergeant Graham spent much of his time on Flight Line Security, giving him an excellent view of the air displays.
From 26 June - 02 July members of the squadron attended Summer Camp at RAF Lossiemouth in Moray. Cadets were able to visit different sections of one of the busiest RAF Stations in the UK. A highlight of the camp was a trip to the bombing ranges at RAF Tain where we were able to watch a Tornado GR4 attacking ground targets.
