Congratulations to Sgt Jamie Graham who has just been awarded a 12 hour light aircraft flying scholarship through the Air Cadet Pilot Scheme (ACPS). He will travel to Tayside Aviation in Dundee later this year to undertake an intensive 2 week training course that culminates with the chance to fly an Aquila A211 aircraft solo.
Massive well done to Flight Sergeant Joe Greenall who was representing South East Scotland Wing at the Inter Wing Cross Country Competition today. FS Greenall came fourth in his age group, helping the SESW Cross Country Team to win the overall competition. He has now been selected to represent Scotland & Northern Ireland Region against cadets from the rest of the U.K. at the Inter Region Competition later this year.
On Saturday 27 February Cpl Hunking, Cdt Gordon, Cdt Hayes and Cdt Horne attended 12 Air Experience Flight at Leuchars Station to recieve practical flying training from Royal Air Force pilots on the Grob Tutor. Each cadet under went parachute and egress drills before donning flight suits, lifejackets, parachutes and helmets for a 30 minute flight above Fife.
On Monday 15 February Flight Sergeant Joe Greenall was presented with his Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award. This marks the end of six months hard work completing each of the award sections - Volunteering, Skills, Physical and Expedition. Well done!
On Monday 01 February the Officer Commanding presented Cdt Kipp McTavish with the Leading Cadet badge. This follows his successful completion of the Leading Cadet training syllabus.
To qualify as a Leading Cadet Cdt McTavish has studied three subjects in depth and has completed online examinations. The subjects studied are Airmanship Knowledge, Principles of Flight and Basic Navigation using Map and Compass.
This all contributes towards a BTEC Certificate in Aviation Studies.
